Typo solves Code mystery

Clause 5.2.6 of the TCP Code is about billing information a telco must give customers on request.  But many readers can’t actually make sense of the wording.

Neither could we, until we figured out where the typo is.

Here’s the key wording:

Billing information provided free of Charge:  A Supplier following a Customer’s request and irrespective of whether or not previously made available on a Bill or otherwise make available, in a format that is able to be read and understood, must provide to Customers and former Customers: [specified billing information] …

Read it a couple of times, slowly and out loud, and you’ll get lost.  That’s because there’s a typo.  It was meant to say:

Billing information provided free of Charge:  A Supplier following a Customer’s request and irrespective of whether or not previously made available on a Bill or otherwise make made available, in a format that is able to be read and understood, must provide to Customers and former Customers: [specified billing information] …

Confusion solved.
